Thomas “Tommy” DuBois
Thomas “Tommy” DuBois is a U.S. Army veteran and vocational rehabilitation professional with more than a decade of experience helping individuals with disabilities overcome barriers to employment and build meaningful, sustainable careers.
Throughout his career, Tommy has worked directly with individuals, families, employers, schools, vocational rehabilitation counselors, and community partners to create employment opportunities that match each person’s strengths, abilities, interests, and goals. His experience includes job development and placement, supported employment, workplace training, job coaching, individualized employment planning, case management, employer engagement, and program development.
Before founding Storybook Employment Services, Tommy served as Business Relations Coordinator for a Community Rehabilitation Provider, where he coordinated vocational rehabilitation services, developed employer and community partnerships, and supervised employment staff and job coaches. He also spent several years with Project SEARCH, including helping develop and coordinate the first Project SEARCH program located on a U.S. Navy installation at NAS Oceana. His work has included supporting transition-age students, adults with disabilities, and Veterans in achieving competitive integrated employment.
Tommy’s approach to vocational rehabilitation is shaped by both his professional experience and his 12 years of service in the United States Army, where he served as a Parachute Rigger and Lead Instructor and deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. His military career strengthened the values that continue to guide his work today: service, accountability, adaptability, teamwork, and a commitment to helping others reach their potential.
Tommy earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Bryant & Stratton College, graduating with a 3.83 GPA, as well as an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice.
He founded Storybook Employment Services in San Antonio, Texas, with a simple belief: a disability may be part of someone’s story, but it should never determine how that story ends. Storybook exists to help people recognize their abilities, discover meaningful opportunities, and write the next chapter of their lives through employment, independence, and community inclusion.
